Matric Merit Calculator: Marks to Percentage 2026
Your matric percentage is your obtained marks divided by total marks, times 100. For Punjab boards, the combined SSC Part I and Part II total is 1100 marks, so a student with 935 marks gets (935 ÷ 1100) × 100 = 85%. The calculator below runs this instantly and shows your division.
How to convert matric marks into percentage
The method is identical for every BISE board in Punjab:
Percentage = (Obtained Marks ÷ Total Marks) × 100
Use 1100 as the total for the full matriculation certificate. If you only have your 10th class (SSC Part II) marks in hand, the single-part total is 550 — but the percentage printed on your official DMC (Detail of Marks Certificate) is always the combined figure. Enter the real total from your result card instead of assuming it, since a few boards vary the maximum slightly for certain practical subjects.

Use 1100 for the full matric certificate, or 550 for a single part.
Matric percentage to division
| Division | Percentage | Marks (out of 1100) |
|---|---|---|
| First Division | 60% and above | 660 and above |
| Second Division | 45% – 59.9% | 495 – 659 |
| Third Division | 33% – 44.9% | 363 – 494 |
| Fail | Below 33% | Below 363 |
These division bands are still requested on most college admission forms and government job applications, even where result cards now print letter grades. Punjab boards are phasing in an IBCC letter-grade system (A++ down to the lowest pass grade) that raises the pass mark toward 40%, so check whether your own DMC shows a division, a grade, or both.

What your percentage means for merit
College merit lists for intermediate (FSc, FA, ICS) admission are ranked on your matric percentage — the higher your aggregate, the higher you sit, and the stronger your shot at a competitive college or group. When you later apply to university, matric usually carries a smaller share of the admission aggregate (commonly around 10%), with your intermediate result and entry test doing most of the work. A first-division matric keeps the widest range of pre-medical and pre-engineering options open, so this is the stage where a strong percentage counts for the most.
